I’ve always loved autumn and the feeling of new things happening – new term at school, going back to university and so on.

Today I’m starting planning on re-vamping one of the courses I give at UCF. I’ve got lots of ideas, just trying to pull them all in to some sort of coherent narrative and approach to the whole thing. Time for web-based projects to embrace the cloud.

There has been a recent update to the WordPress software, following a security concern. Such is the popularity and power of WordPress for running easy to use websites it has even made it as a front page news story on the Guardian website today.

I’d just like to reassure all Ampersand clients who are currently using WordPress that they have already been updated to the latest version of the software, which is not vulnerable to this alert.

Went to my first #csmc last night in Falmouth, braving the torrential rain and the floods! Was a really great evening and got to meet a lot of really interesting people from a suprising range of backgrounds.

My new business cards have arrived from the brilliant moo.com. There’s a range of ten different images so I’m keen to see which is the most popular. The neon ampersand is edging ahead at the moment.

After a few days of using my old laptop to work on sites, I was very pleased to take delivery this morning of four boxes of new kit.

A shiny, new (and very fast) laptop, a stand for it so that I can work without breaking my back, and a stonkingly large second monitor are now installed on my cleaned and polished desk. I feel ready to tackle anything now!

Today is the first day of proper trading for Ampersand.

It’s something that has been planned for a long time now and it feels great to finally be here and doing it. There are still lots of things to get sorted but I’ve got a busy day of meetings lined up and the weather is lovely – can’t ask for more than that!
